Captain Polyplast Receives ₹47 Crore Order for 2,000 Solar Pumps Under PM-KUSUM-B
Rajkot, Gujarat: Captain Polyplast Limited has strengthened its presence in India’s solar irrigation and renewable-energy infrastructure market after receiving an order from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply and installation of 2,000 off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems under the PM-KUSUM B Scheme.
The order, valued at approximately ₹47 crore, including GST, represents the company’s largest single solar EPC order to date, according to the company’s announcement reported on September 17, 2026. The development adds significant scale to Captain Polyplast’s solar EPC order book and expands its involvement in solar-powered agricultural infrastructure in Maharashtra.
2,000 Solar Pumps to Be Installed Across Maharashtra
Under the contract, Captain Polyplast will be responsible for the complete project cycle, covering the design, manufacture, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of 2,000 standalone off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems.
The systems are planned for installation at identified farmer sites across districts of Maharashtra. The order covers solar pumping systems in 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP capacities, allowing the installations to serve different agricultural water-pumping requirements.
The project also includes a comprehensive warranty along with repair and maintenance services. A Remote Monitoring System (RMS) is included for a period of five years, giving the project an additional technology and after-sales-service component beyond the initial installation.
Order Adds Scale to Captain Polyplast’s Solar EPC Business
The latest MSEDCL order is significant for Captain Polyplast because it follows the company’s earlier expansion into solar EPC and solar-pump solutions.
Captain Polyplast has traditionally been associated with the micro-irrigation sector, manufacturing and supplying irrigation equipment and related agricultural products. The company has subsequently expanded its operations into solar EPC, including solar water pumps and rooftop solar projects.
The company’s manufacturing presence includes facilities in Rajkot, Gujarat, as well as Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. It has also developed a distribution network across multiple Indian states and exports products to international markets.
The company had previously received solar-pump orders from MSEDCL, including orders for 200 pumps in 2025 and 1,000 pumps in July 2026. The latest 2,000-pump contract represents a substantial increase in the scale of its solar-pump assignments from the Maharashtra utility.
Project Execution to Cover Complete Solar Pumping Systems
The latest contract is not limited to the supply of solar equipment. Captain Polyplast’s responsibilities extend across the complete installation process.
The scope includes:
- Design of solar water pumping systems
- Manufacturing and procurement
- Transportation to identified locations
- Installation at farmer sites
- Testing of the systems
- Commissioning
- Warranty support
- Repair and maintenance
- Remote monitoring for five years
This integrated scope makes the order an EPC-style assignment rather than a simple equipment-supply contract.
The project is expected to be executed within the stipulated timeline following the applicable approvals and issuance of the Notice to Proceed, Work Order or relevant project approval. Previous MSEDCL solar-pump contracts disclosed by the company have specified completion within 60 days from the relevant project commencement approval.
PM-KUSUM Creates Demand for Solar Irrigation
The order comes amid continued implementation of the PM-KUSUM programme, which supports the deployment of solar-energy solutions in the agricultural sector.
Captain Polyplast has highlighted solar pumps as a growth area within its renewable-energy business. In its earlier investor communication, the company said it had secured empanelment under the PM-KUSUM programme in Maharashtra and Gujarat and was developing a range of Captain-branded off-grid solar pumps in different capacities.
The company’s investor presentation has described PM-KUSUM as a major opportunity for domestic solar-pump manufacturers and suppliers, particularly as the programme seeks to increase the use of renewable energy in agriculture and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources.
Strengthening Presence in Maharashtra
For Captain Polyplast, Maharashtra is becoming an important market for its solar-pump business. The company has already secured multiple MSEDCL-related orders, providing it with experience in executing solar pumping projects under the state’s agricultural solarisation programme.
The latest 2,000-unit order further expands that relationship and provides the company with a larger project to execute across identified farmer locations.
The company has stated that the order strengthens its solar EPC order book and provides additional visibility for the business. The order also gives Captain Polyplast an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to execute solar pumping projects at a larger scale.
Management View
Commenting on the order, Ritesh Khichadia, Whole Time Director of Captain Polyplast Limited, said the company was pleased to receive the 2,000-pump order from MSEDCL and described it as the company’s largest single solar EPC order to date.
According to the management, the order reflects the company’s previous execution experience with MSEDCL and its expanding capabilities in solar EPC. The company also said it intends to execute the project within the stipulated timelines while focusing on quality and delivery.
Growing Solar Order Book
The latest order adds to a series of solar-pump contracts received by Captain Polyplast.
In August 2025, the company announced a Letter of Empanelment from MSEDCL for 200 standalone off-grid solar photovoltaic water pumping systems, with an aggregate value of approximately ₹5.97 crore including GST.
In July 2026, Captain Polyplast announced another MSEDCL order for 1,000 solar pumps, valued at approximately ₹23.6 crore including GST. That contract also covered 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP solar pumping systems, together with installation, testing, commissioning, warranty and maintenance services.
The latest ₹47 crore order for 2,000 pumps therefore represents a further increase in the scale of the company’s solar-pump contracts.
Implications for the Rajkot-Based Company
The development is notable for Rajkot’s industrial ecosystem as Captain Polyplast has its manufacturing operations in the region and has built its core business around agricultural and irrigation products.
The expansion into solar EPC combines the company’s existing agricultural-market presence with renewable-energy infrastructure. Solar-powered irrigation systems also create a direct connection between the company’s traditional micro-irrigation activities and its newer solar-energy business.
As the company executes larger solar-pump projects, its performance in the segment will depend on factors including timely project execution, procurement, installation capacity, working capital requirements, customer payments and continued demand under government-backed agricultural solarisation programmes.
